Gor Blimey Guvner!

Well, would you believe it. Yesterday a motion I seconded to object to the ProLogis project for Greenham Common failed at the Town Council yesterday. Amazingly, West Berkshire Council through out the planning application anyway.

Mayor Making 2008

I was really pleased for Phil Barnett today at his Mayor Making. People who dedicate many years of their lives to help the local community deserve days such as these.

You can see a video of the Mayor Making here! Embarrasingly, I can be seen listening to the new Mayor's speech!

The actual ceremony in the Corn Exchange was very good. The Park House choir and band were excellent as was the speech made by Cllr Julian Swift-Hook.

The outgoing Mayor, Cllr Adrian Edwards, did a damn fine job in my opinion and will be a hard act to follow.

I am not worthy!

Well, who could have believed it? I've been elected as Deputy Leader of the Town Council - I even got a vote from the other side of the Chamber (thank you Howard).

I hope I can live up to everyone's expectations.

Groupies

This week I attended the LibDem Newbury Branch meeting held in the Hogshead pub. I have to say that initially I wasn't too impressed. Not a well run meeting I thought. Supposed to start at 7.30pm but really got underway at 8.00pm. I could have had a couple more pints, I thought to myself.

Then people started to turn up - an odd bunch I again thought to myself. Trivial discussion on finances, fund raising, etc. I then got slagged off about my feelings about the flag controversy and the way I voted. Then I took exception to Tony Vickers' comments about the flags.

Then it dawned on me. These guys are the backbone of the party in Newbury. Some of them have been former councillors and even Mayors. They need to know what goes on. Without them we, and I, are nothing!!!

Please accept my apologies for my outburst at the meeting. Mind you I'm not sorry about how I felt!

I'm Back!

Yes folks, it's official, I'm back. Well, I've never really been away. Paul Walter said that most people start a blog then after the novelty has worn off then don't do it again. I think he is right - it certainly happened to me. Anyway, I am now ready to resume my babblings. Watch this space!
